What Happened?

On March 8, 2025, Yale New Haven Health became aware of a security incident impacting its IT systems. Upon discovery, YNHHS immediately launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party gained access to YNHHS's network and obtained copies of certain patient data on the same day. YNHHS conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. On April 11, 2025, YNHHS publicly disclosed the incident and announced that beginning April 14, 2025, it would mail notification letters to impacted individuals.

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:

  • Date of birth,
