What Happened?

On February 28, 2025, Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics became aware of unusual activity within its IT environment. WHMC immediately launched an investigation, engaged a third-party cybersecurity expert to assess the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party accessed certain systems between December 26, 2024, and February 28, 2025. During this time, the unauthorized actor may have accessed and/or acquired files containing sensitive data of patients and members of WHMC’s Group Health Plan. After a thorough review, WHMC identified affected individuals, made a public disclosure and began sending notice letters on April 11, 2025.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:

  • Date of birth,

  • Social Security number,
  • Financial account information,
  • Diagnosis,
