What Is This About?

If you recently received a letter or an email from Western Montana Clinic  informing you that your sensitive personal and protected health information was compromised in a data breach, we would like to speak with you about your rights and potential legal remedies. Western Montana Clinic recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that exposed individuals’ sensitive personal and protected health information.

What Happened?

On April 15, 2025, Western Montana Clinic became aware of a security incident involving unusual activity in certain employee email accounts. Upon detection, Western Montana launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party intermittently accessed employee email accounts between March 11 and April 15, 2025. During this time, the unauthorized actor attempted to change bank account details to redirect funds.

Although the primary focus of the attacker appeared to be financial, Western Montana Clinic conducted a thorough review to determine if any patient data had been compromised. On June 3, 2025, Western Montana confirmed that the impacted emails and attachments contained patient names and other sensitive details. On August 1, 2025, Western Montana Clinic made a public disclosure and began mailing notice letters to impacted individuals.
