What Happened?

On January 7, 2025, Sunflower Medical Group, P.A. became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network. Upon detection, Sunflower launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to Sunflower’s systems on or about December 15, 2024, and during that time, acquired copies of files from Sunflower’s systems. Sunflower conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. On March 7, 2025, Sunflower filed a notice with the Maine Attorney General’s office and started sending out notice letters.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:
  • Name,
  • Address,
  • Date of birth,
  • Social Security number,
  • Driver’s license number,
  • Medical information, and
  • Health insurance information
