What Happened?

On September 28, 2024, Special Tree became aware of a security incident on its IT network. Upon detection, Special Tree launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed sensitive personal and protected health information between September 28, 2024, and September 30, 2024. Special Tree conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals, which concluded on March 13, 2025. On March 31, 2025, Special Tree filed a notice with the Attorney General of Massachusetts and started sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised:

  • Social Security number,
  • Driver’s license number, and
  • Financial account information
