What Happened?

On January 23, 2025, Smiths Interconnect became aware of a cybersecurity incident impacting its internal systems. Upon detection, Smiths Interconnect launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. Through its investigation, Smiths Interconnect confirmed on February 3, 2025, that sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to current and former employees had been accessed by an unauthorized third party. Smiths conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. On March 27, 2025, Smiths filed a notice with the Attorney General of Massachusetts and started sending out notice letters to impacted individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:
  • Name,
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth,
  • Contact information,
  • Driver’s license or other government-issued identification,
  • Tax ID,
  • Financial information,
  • Health information, and
  • Health insurance information, including information associated with benefits enrollment
