Learn About Data Breach & Its Impact on You

What Happened?

Skyward Specialty was recently alerted that a database where it stored certain documents was publicly discoverable to individuals who were able to identify the URL for that database. The misconfiguration in the database settings allowed unauthorized access. Skyward Specialty remediated the misconfiguration promptly. However, on April 5, 2025, Skyward Specialty was informed that certain documents from the database had appeared on the dark web. The cybercriminal group Kill Security claimed responsibility for the ransomware attack and threatened to publish the stolen data. Skyward Specialty immediately launched an investigation, engaged third-party cybersecurity specialists, and notified regulatory authorities. On April 8, 2025, Skyward Specialty began mailing notice letters to the impacted individuals.
