What Happened?

On January 27, 2025, SimonMed Imaging was alerted by one of its vendors to a potential security incident. Upon further investigation, on January 28, 2025, SimonMed discovered suspicious activity on its own network, confirming that a ransomware attack occurred between January 21 and February 5, 2025. The unauthorized third party, identified as the MEDUSA ransomware group, accessed and potentially exfiltrated approximately 212.616 GB of data from SimonMed Imaging’s systems. SimonMed launched a comprehensive review with the assistance of cybersecurity experts to determine what data was compromised and identify impacted individuals. A formal breach notification was posted to SimonMed’s website and law enforcement was notified. SimonMed continues to investigate the breach.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:
  • Names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • Address,
  • Date of birth,
  • Driver’s license number,
  • Medical information (e.g., provider name, medical record number, patient number, medical condition, diagnosis and/or treatment information, medications), and
  • Health insurance information
