What Happened?

On October 23, 2024, Palomar became aware of unusual activity when a threat actor attempted to access Palomar’s network without authorization. Upon discovering this incident, Palomar worked with its Managed Service Provider (MSP) to secure its systems and began an internal review of the incident. Palomar engaged a third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the nature and scope of the breach. The investigation revealed that the unauthorized actor may have accessed personally identifiable information. Palomar performed a data mining review to identify the affected individuals and the types of information that may have been compromised. On May 1, 2025, the data mining process was completed. On June 17, 2025, Palomar finalized the list of individuals to notify. Palomar filed a notice of the data breach to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office on July 24, 2025 and published a notice of incident on its website on the the same day.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised:
  • Date of birth;
  • Driver’s license number and expiration date;
  • Social Security number;
  • Insurance policy number;
  • Insurance provider; and
  • Login username and password.
