What Happened?

On January 9, 2026, Hightower became aware of a cybersecurity incident involving a compromised user account within its network. In response, Hightower acted quickly to secure its systems and initiated an investigation with the assistance of independent cybersecurity and digital forensics experts to assess the nature and scope of the incident.

Following this discovery, Hightower conducted a detailed review of the affected data to determine the type of information involved and to identify impacted individuals. This review ultimately confirmed that sensitive personal information belonging to approximately 131,483 individuals was included in the compromised files. Hightower reports that this breach was a result of compromised user credentials.

On March 23, 2026, Hightower reported the incident to the Maine Attorney General and began notifying affected individuals by mailing notice letters.
