What Happened?

On December 17, 2024, HPI became aware of suspicious activity on its internal network. HPI immediately launched an investigation, engaged cybersecurity experts, and took steps to secure its network and data. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed HPI’s systems and data between November 14 and December 12, 2024. HPI conducted a comprehensive review and determined on March 17, 2025, that certain personal information was potentially impacted. On April 11, 2025, HPI filed a notice with the Maine Attorney General’s office and began sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:
  • Name,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • Government identification numbers,
  • Medical information, and
  • Financial information (including credit or debit card numbers)
