Upon detection, Freddie Mac launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. On February 19, 2025, Freddie Mac filed a notice with the Attorney General of Massachusetts and started sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals.
