What Happened?

On September 6, 2024, Food for the Poor, Inc. identified unusual activity on its network. Upon detection, FFTP launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed portions of FFTP’s network between September 2, 2024, and September 6, 2024. FFTP conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. On March 7, 2025, FFTP completed its review. On April 4, 2025, Food for the Poor filed a notice with the Maine Attorney General and began sending out notice letters to impacted individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:

  • Social Security number,
  • Driver’s license number or state ID number,
  • Passport number,
  • Tax ID number,
  • Financial account number/information,
  • Financial account information,
  • Payment card number/information,
  • Health information, and
  • Health insurance information
