What Is This About?

If you recently received a letter or an email from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (“AACN”) informing you that your sensitive personal information was compromised in a data breach, we would like to speak with you about your rights and potential legal remedies. AACN recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that exposed individuals’ sensitive personal information.

What Happened?

Prior to July 31, 2025, AACN became aware of a security incident involving its website’s payment system. Upon detection, AACN launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation concluded on July 31, 2025, and determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to payment card data associated with certain transactions conducted on the AACN website between March 8, 2025, and July 31, 2025. AACN conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. On August 29, 2025, AACN identified the individuals whose sensitive data may have been involved in the breach. That same day, AACN submitted notices to the Attorneys General of Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and began mailing written notification letters to affected individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised:
  • Full name;
  • Payment card number;
  • Payment card expiration date;
  • CVV security code;
  • Billing and shipping addresses;
  • Phone number; and
