What Happened?

On January 30, 2025, Alabama Ophthalmology Associates became aware of unusual activity within its network environment. Upon discovery, AOA promptly secured its network and engaged an independent digital forensics and incident response firm to investigate the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and acquired sensitive data from AOA’s network between January 22, 2025, and January 30, 2025. The ransomware group known as BianLian has been identified as responsible for the breach. AOA conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. The investigation concluded on March 19, 2025. AOA began notifying impacted individuals on April 7, 2025.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised:
