On May 31, 2024, FinWise Bank, a financial institution that contracts with American First Finance, LLC to originate and fund consumer installment loans, experienced a data security incident. The breach was discovered on June 18, 2025, and upon learning of the breach, FinWise Bank launched an internal investigation with third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. On September 13, 2025, AFF filed a notice with the Maine Attorney General’s Office and began sending notice letters to impacted individuals.
